Across Alaska, social workers are navigating workforce shortages, rural and frontier service challenges, behavioral health needs, and policy decisions that directly impact our profession and the communities we serve. Now more than ever, we need leaders who are grounded in our Code of Ethics, committed to advocacy, and ready to help shape the future of social work across the state.

Serving on the NASW-Alaska Board is more than a volunteer role — it is an opportunity to lead in a time when social work voices must be strong, visible, and united.

Our Chapter represents social workers practicing across one of the most geographically vast and culturally diverse states in the country. From urban centers to rural and tribal communities, Alaska’s social workers bring invaluable perspectives and experiences that help guide our profession forward.

Our Board helps ensure that the voices of Alaska’s social workers inform statewide advocacy, professional development initiatives, and the overall direction of the Chapter.

Open Positions for 2026:

  • Vice President (2-year term)
  • Secretary(2-year term)
  • Northern Regional Representative I-A (2-year term)
  • Southwest Regional Representative (2-year term)
  • Interior Regional Representative (2-year term)
  • BSW Student Representative (1-year term)
  • MSW Student Representative (1-year term)

Additional leadership opportunities may also be available through Chapter committees and appointed roles.
