The NASW Alaska Chapter is committed to offering its members high quality continuing education and professional development, including opportunities which address the continuing education requirements for licensed social workers in Alaska. In addition to sponsoring events in Alaska, the Chapter's educational resource library offers quality video tapes for rental.

Networking & Programs

NASW offer members a chance to stay connected with the social work profession through monthly branch meetings in eight  communities, ongoing continuing  education, an annual conference, a bi-monthly Alaska Chapter newsletter, and volunteer opportunities.

Social Action and Advocacy

NASW is instrumental in assuring that the social work perspective is incorporated in pending legislation before Congress and in the Alaska legislature. Your membership helps support these vital efforts at the national and state level. NASW's Agenda for Change targets the association's efforts to address legislation and regulations that will best provide support to vulnerable groups and advance professional practice. Areas of concern include health and mental health, child well-being and protection, welfare reform, civil rights and social work practice.

Leadership Opportunities

Elected and appointed leaders serve the Chapter on the Board of Directors and Committees. As an NASW-AK member, this could be you!

Publications

The NASW Alaska Chapter News is mailed to members on a bi-monthly basis. Members also receive the national bi-monthly magazine Social Work Advocates and quarterly issues of Social Work, the profession’s premiere journal.

Members are also receive discounts on NASW’s specialty journals, Health & Social Work, Social Work in Education, Social Work Research and Social Work Abstracts. Professional Malpractice Insurance

The NASW Insurance Trust is one of the most valuable benefits to members, connecting eligible social workers to malpractice insurance with low rates and dependable coverage.
