A Message from Your NASW-Alaska Student Representatives

As March comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate Social Work Month—a time to recognize the impact, resilience, and dedication that each of you brings to this profession. This year’s theme reminds us that even in challenging times, social workers continue to uplift, advocate, and create meaningful change—and that work is already happening through you.

As the academic year winds down, we want to take a moment to recognize everything you’ve poured into this journey. Whether you’re preparing for graduation or heading into another semester, this year likely asked a lot of you—and you showed up. The long hours, the hard conversations, and the moments of growth (even when uncomfortable) are all shaping the thoughtful, compassionate social workers you are becoming.

To Our Graduates:
Congratulations! This is a huge milestone. You’re entering the field at a critical moment—especially here in Alaska—where your voice, skills, and leadership are deeply needed. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make.

To Our Continuing Students:
Keep going. The work you’re doing now matters, even on the days when it feels tough or far from the finish line. You are building something meaningful, and it shows.

As we close out Social Work Month, we also invite you to stay connected and engaged through several upcoming MSW Student Coalition initiatives. From networking opportunities and peer connection spaces to advocacy efforts and end-of-year gatherings, there are still meaningful ways to plug in, build community, and strengthen your voice before the semester wraps up.
