Happy Social Work Month!
Dear Alaska social work colleagues,
Social Work Month brings us together to recognize the dedication and hard work of our fellow social workers and offers a chance to pause and reflect on the contributions of our profession in advancing social equity. Social work is grounded in the belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, and our role—across all professional settings—is to support others in realizing their potential.
Alaska’s social workers serve in health care, mental health, schools, protective services, the justice system, and many other settings, advocating for fairness, respect, and opportunity for all.
Our core social work values—service, competence, integrity, the dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, and social justice—continue to guide us as we support others through these unsettled times, one person at a time.
On behalf of the Alaska Chapter Board of Directors, I want to thank each of you for the work you do every day to make our state a better place and to support the wellbeing of all Alaskans. You make a difference, and we deeply appreciate you.
I also want to share a few upcoming events from our wonderful partners at the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Please see the flyers below for great opportunities to connect, celebrate together, and earn free continuing education credits.
