Hello to my fellow Alaska NASW members. I hope that your late summer is being a productive one, with lots of berries and fish!

There is an important deadline that is coming up on August 31st that I wanted to make sure that our members know about. Member comments on three proposed changes to the way that NASW's national organization relates to state chapter boards are due by the 31st. You can review the proposed changes here in full.

For context, significant changes and restructuring have been happening at NASW National, impacting all state chapters and members. Many state boards, including Alaska's, have submitted comments to NASW National in response to these changes. One change that I want to bring to your attention is  "XII.D.04 Chapters", which would eliminate elections for state board chairs and instead have chairs appointed by the National Board. I strongly believe that state boards should be elected by state members, so that those member's voices are guiding our decisions. 

These proposed changes are currently open for comment by NASW members. I encourage you to share your thoughts and comments on the proposed changes . You can do so by clicking the hyperlinks on this webpage.

Also up for public comment now until August 31st are NASW's Program Priority Goals.
